THE ARK hosts a missionary who lives on the property for the summer and who shares daily with the campers what God is doing in and through their mission. Campers and volunteers are invited to partner with the missionaries by praying for them and giving financially. This summer, we are honored to have Carmen Filbeck with us. All the offerings campers and volunteers give will go directly to her ministry in Thailand.
Carmen is a second-generation missionary in Thailand. She was born there and has spent a good portion of her life in Thailand. Since 2004, she has dedicated her energies to the Lanna Theological Center. LTC is a leadership training program. It was started by her parents in the 80s.
While Thailand has had a significant number of missionaries over the years, there are still many people who do not know Jesus. Missionaries can not do it all. There is a great need for national leaders, ministers, evangelists, Bible Teachers, and youth leaders. Carmen's dad said that if he could reproduce himself, then the Gospel would go twice as far. And that is what happens through LTC. Over the years, students graduate and enter various forms of ministry. Their purpose is that every student who graduates will see the Gospel go out "twice as far."
Carmen's current role is that of Director. It is her job to keep everything organized and running smoothly, so teachers can teach and students can study. She is also responsible for finding scholarships for students. Many of the young Christians who have a heart to serve God are from poor families, and they need support to study and prepare for service. The offering campers and volunteers give this summer will go towards supporting Carmen and her ministry in Thailand.
